1950s Murano Glass Earrings

1950s vintage artisan-made Murano Wedding Cake glass screw-back earrings. 20mm diameter. 

The Wedding Cake technique used for these earrings started with a base created by wrapping molten glass around a wire. Aventurine was then added, creating immense sparkles in the black base glass. Swirls of pink and blue molten glass suggest blossoming flowers and flower petals. These were hand-applied over an open flame with fine strands of molten glass. The final result of this meticulous and highly skilled art form is these stunning vintage earrings.
