The scene shows a long, one-story tan adobe building with a flat roof and a prominent sign reading "La Fonda" over a large screened entryway. In the foreground, four donkeys (burros) are standing; three are heavily laden with large bundles of firewood. A man in a bright shirt and a wide-brimmed straw hat stands near the donkeys. To the far right, the wooden wheel of a wagon is visible.
    The reverse side of a vintage linen postcard with blue printed text on an off-white, textured surface. On the left is a detailed historical paragraph about the original La Fonda hostelry at the end of the Santa Fe Trail. A vertical center line identifies the card as a "Tichnor Quality View" made by Tichnor Bros., Inc. in Boston. The far-left edge credits the publisher, Southwest Arts & Crafts. The right side features a large, decorative "POST CARD" header and a "Place One Cent Stamp Here" box.
