A feminine porcelain trinket box or jewelry casket decorated with hand-painted purple violets and gilt accents. Violets traditionally represent loyalty in romance, so this was likely a gift for a new bride.

The German porcelain company Mäbendorf 1882 mark on the base dates this piece between 1929 and 1935 The additional writing next to the sword reads "alea iacta est" (the die is cast). Please see the images showing several small ships on the inner base lip and some wear on the exterior gold.
