Designed and signed by David Guérin, known professionally as Degué, this piece was crafted at the height of the movement, circa 1920 to 1925, when Paris was the epicenter of modern decorative arts.

This striking vase features bold geometric decoration in vibrant orange-red cameo glass contrasted against a clear, sandblasted ground. The dynamic interplay of matte and translucent surfaces showcases Guérin’s masterful command of texture and light, hallmarks of his celebrated Art Deco style. Sharp lines and crisp contours enhance its sculptural presence, revealing new visual dimensions from every angle.

Degué was the signature of Guérin’s Cristallerie de Compiègne, a workshop he founded in response to the success of contemporaries such as Daum and Gallé. A key figure in the Art Deco glass movement, Guérin fused innovative sandblasting techniques with bold, architectural forms, giving his work a distinctive edge. His pieces are now prized for their sculptural quality and exceptional craftsmanship, qualities showcased in this vase.

Signed and in very good condition, with only minor base wear consistent with age, this vase comes from a private U.S. collection. A superb example of French Art Deco artistry, it offers both historical significance and timeless aesthetic appeal, an ideal addition for collectors of early 20th-century decorative glass.
