1920s. Four Pre-Columbian Aztec deities are featured on this bar pin brooch. Hallmarked 925 (sterling silver) 40 x 10 mm.
The Creator Tlaltecuhtli is depicted with splayed arms and legs. Next is a jaguar, an Aztec symbol of strength that serves as a representation of the god Tezcatlipoca. Then a Cormorant bird, revered by the Aztecs and included in their codex. The far right image is of a Quetzal, revered for its beautiful plumage and represents the deity Quetzalcoatl.
