This 1906 undivided back postcard, postmarked the same year, features the grand memorial known as Grant’s Tomb in Riverside Park, New York City. Officially the General Grant National Memorial, it is the final resting place of President Ulysses S. Grant and his wife, Julia. Completed in 1897, it remains the largest mausoleum in North America. At the time this card was sent, the monument stood as a powerful symbol of national unity and reverence for one of the Union's most important Civil War generals. The image evokes the pride of a young 20th-century America honoring its heroes.
This postcard would look great framed, make a wonderful hostess gift, or make an excellent addition to any collection.
