This beautiful antique Edwardian pointed flat collar features a stunning, verified handmade Valenciennes bobbin lace border expertly hand-appliquéd onto a delicate, fine machine-net (tulle) foundation. This mixed-technique styling was a highly popular domestic art for skilled needleworkers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Valenciennes border showcases classic "vrai réseau" twisted mesh details and beautiful clothwork flowers entirely unguided by heavy outlining cords. The border strip has been meticulously attached to the main net with a traditional whipped hand-seam that traces the pointed silhouette perfectly.

The Silhouette and Fit: This piece is an exquisite detached pointed flat collar. It curves softly and cleanly around the back of the neck, staying flat and short against the shoulders before tapering into two sharp, dramatic lace points at the front center. This elegant contour makes it incredibly easy to baste or sew onto a modern blouse, a vintage bridal gown, or a historical reproduction bodice.
