1800s. Set of nine carded 7.5mm wide antique fabric Dorset buttons. Off-white, with a white-on-white flower embroidered at the center of each button.
Singletons' are made on a similar ring as wheel-patterned Dorset buttons, but are padded with a disc of woven fabric that is then embroidered. They get their name from the Singleton family, who originally made this in-demand button during the 1700s.
Mounted on their original, blue, and gold chipped paperboard card, these lovely craft-made linen buttons originated from Dorset, England, and were made for the local market.
