18th c. French Silk Regency Lace Lappet

This beautiful 18th-century silk lace lappet scarf or headdress in ecru white is a stunning example of historical fashion. Lappets, long strips of material, often lace, hang from the top of the head, cascading down the back or over the shoulders, often extending from a cap band or headdress. They were a required element of female court dress from the early 18th to the early 20th centuries.
