This beautiful 18th-century silk lace lappet scarf or headdress in ecru white is a stunning example of historical fashion. Lappets, long strips of material, often lace, hang from the top of the head, cascading down the back or over the shoulders, often extending from a cap band or headdress. They were a required element of female court dress from the early 18th to the early 20th centuries.

Measuring 5 1/2 x 52 inches, this piece features delicate silk lace with intricate patterns. There are several small breaks in the lace, along with a repair at 22 inches. Additionally, there are some tiny brown foxing stains, and the piece would benefit from a gentle soak to restore its beauty. Please refer to the images for a closer look at its condition.

A beautiful addition to any antique lace collection, this lappet also lends itself perfectly to historical costume design, period fashion reenactment, or simply as a treasured piece for those who appreciate the delicate artistry of vintage textiles.
