Additional Information

This card is part of a numbered series (No. 181) by local publisher C. Baffert. "Moonlight" cards were a popular novelty in the early 1900s, typically created by printing daytime photographs in deep tones and adding a bright "moon" to simulate a nocturnal atmosphere. The back of the card features the small, circular Baffert publisher logo at the base of the divider line. The Moucherotte peak (1,901 meters) seen here is one of the most recognizable mountains overlooking the city and served as a significant site for the French Resistance during World War II.
