Additional Information

The vessel pictured is the Vier Gebroeders (Four Brothers), a traditional wooden Hoogaars used for shrimp and mussel fishing. The registration ARM-5 identifies it as part of the fleet from Arnemuiden in the Zeeland province, and during this period, the boat was owned and operated by the fisherman Jan de Nooijer.

The publisher, Dr. Trenkler Co. of Leipzig, was world-renowned for high-quality topographical cards and specifically dated this series 1904. The back features a standard undivided layout with the Dutch word Briefkaart and French Carte Postale, confirming it was manufactured just before the 1905 transition to divided-back postcards in the Netherlands.
