1900s Saint-Denis Basilica Interior Paris France Vintage Postcard UDB
About This Postcard
This is a beautiful architectural postcard of the Basilica of Saint-Denis (Basilique de Saint-Denis), located just north of Paris. It is often cited as the first major structure built in the Gothic style. The image shows the Escalier de l'Abside (côté Nord), the staircase leading to the north side of the ambulatory/apse. This area is historically significant as it houses the royal necropolis, where nearly every French king from the 10th to the 18th century is buried.
