Experience the magic of Frankenmuth with this vintage postcard depicting the iconic Glockenspiel Tower at the Bavarian Inn. Imported from Germany by William “Tiny” Zehnder and first operating on November 20, 1967, the 50-foot tower combines intricate craftsmanship with musical artistry. Its moving stage features 15 hand-carved wooden figurines depicting the legend of the Pied Piper of Hameln, some nearly five feet tall, which rotate on tracks while a narrated story plays four times daily at noon, 3 PM, 6 PM, and 9 PM.

The tower also houses a remarkable 35-bell carillon cast by Eijsbouts Bellfounders in Holland, capable of producing the sound of 70 bells with a special double keyboard, performing both German and American tunes. A 5-bell Westminster chime rings before each hour and on every quarter-hour, filling the surrounding Bavarian-style village with melody. Constructed of structural steel finished with stucco and topped with authentic Bavarian concrete roof tiles salvaged from the old Saginaw Zoo, the Glockenspiel Tower underwent a full renovation for its 50th anniversary in 2017, restoring and repainting the detailed figurines.

This postcard would look great framed or make a great addition to any collection.
