Step quietly into the Garden of Gethsemane, where stillness and devotion fill the air. This vintage postcard depicts Jesus at the Mount of Olives, captured in a meticulously crafted diorama at Lund’s Scenic Garden. According to the New Testament, this was the place where he prayed before his arrest, and the card beautifully evokes that solemn moment.

A verse from Luke 13:34 is noted on the reverse: “O Jerusalem, how often would I have gathered thy children together, and ye would not.” Every detail of the diorama, from the posture of prayer, the surrounding olive trees, to the hush of anticipation, invites reflection and wonder.

This postcard is part of a religious series created by E.K. Lund and his wife Clara, ministers who built a series of biblical dioramas on their 15-acre property between Glen Arbor and Leland, Michigan, along Highway M-22.

This vintage postcard was published by Norton Louis Avery & Son of Lowell, Michigan, and printed by Dexter in 1952-53 as a chrome-era postcard, a printing method prized for its vivid, durable colors. Chrome-era postcards are highly collectible, and this unused, uncirculated example preserves the serene artistry of the Lunds’ work and the charm of mid-century religious souvenirs.

This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
