Additional Information
This card is part of the topographical series personally photographed, published, and printed by J. Murray Jordan at his Philadelphia establishment. Water Works Park, now known as Stadium Park, was a center of recreation for Canton residents in the early 1900s. The image was produced using a high quality halftone process and features the characteristic serif captioning of Jordan work. The reverse includes an ornate scrollwork banner with the phrase "This side for the address" printed below.
The handwritten message on the front reads: "Can't go to Turkey Foot on Thursday. Dear friend. Received the letter and had I read it sooner could have left and answer. I am not offended or disappointed as I had no arrangement made. How are you and your folks just at present but will let you no. Arrived home safe on Sunday eve at 10. L. S. J. N." ("Turkey Foot" was the Turkey Foot Park/Club House in the Akron/Portage Lakes area, about 15-20 miles north of Canton. It was a very popular early 20th-century resort destination featuring lakes, resorts, and vacation spot.)
The back is addressed in cursive to Miss Clara Mae Gross Route 1 Canton Ohio.
This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
