Step into mid-century waterfront charm with this vintage postcard featuring the Duncan L. Clinch Yacht Harbor in Traverse City, Michigan. Located on the shores of West Grand Traverse Bay and connected to Clinch Park, the harbor offers over 100 slips for boats up to 60 feet, along with full services for visiting sailors. Visitors could enjoy nearby beaches, a museum, miniature city displays, and an aquarium, all within walking distance of downtown shopping.

Constructed between 1960 and 1961 with support from the Michigan State Waterways Commission, the marina was designed to boost tourism and establish Traverse City as a premier boating destination on the Great Lakes. Today, it remains a hub of activity and is a central venue for community events like the National Cherry Festival.

The harbor is named after Duncan Lamont Clinch (1787–1849), a prominent U.S. military officer and politician. Clinch served as a commander in the War of 1812, played key roles in the First and Second Seminole Wars in Florida, and later represented Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Whig. His name is also associated with Fort Clinch State Park in Florida and Clinch County, Georgia.

This postcard, a multiview photochrome from the 1960s, highlights four perspectives of the marina: the entrance sign with landscaped grounds, a long concrete pier with visitors, a motorboat creating a white wake on the bay, a ;Chris-Craft boat, and a close-up of yachts moored at the docks. Distributed by The Camera Shop of Traverse City, it captures both the beauty and utility of this iconic Great Lakes marina.

A perfect collectible for enthusiasts of Great Lakes boating, mid-century travel, or Michigan tourism history.
