The legend of Devil’s Pool in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Valley Park is tied to Native American folklore, particularly that of the Lenni Lenape people.

According to local tales, the area was believed to be a spiritual battleground where the Good Spirit confronted the Evil Spirit. In the myth, the Good Spirit triumphed and cast the Evil Spirit into the deep, dark waters of the pool, leaving its presence lingering beneath the surface.

The bridge has a covered section with arched openings on one side, where a woman sits with a girl standing beside her. A boy stands looking out at the water from the center of the right wing of the bridge.
