About This Vintage Postcard

Steeped in summer tradition, this view captures the historic "Tent City" of Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Dating back to 1869, this community consists of unique structures with wooden front porches and canvas back sections, originally used for Methodist camp meetings. This card carries a personal traveler's update from 1964, where the sender, Miss Minnie Itterly, writes to a friend in Cleveland about arriving safely at the "Central Avenue House" and securing "nice rooms" for her stay.
