Originally designed by the legendary René Lalique in the late 1920s, the iconic Sanglier (Wild Boar) radiator mascot symbolized luxury and sophistication for high-end automobiles. Priced originally at 25 guineas (over $1,200 today), this mascot featured a unique lighting mechanism that glowed brighter with speed, adding dynamic flair to classic cars.

Production of Lalique’s famous Bouchons de Radiateur (radiator caps) ceased in 1940 due to World War II, and René Lalique passed away in 1945. However, his son, Marc Lalique, honored his legacy by resuming production after the war, using the original steel molds that survived the conflict.

This piece, signed “Lalique France” on its base, is a superb post-war example in pristine condition. Carefully tucked away in a dark wooden cabinet for decades, it remains free from the purple discoloration common to vintage Lalique glass exposed to sunlight. This clear, untarnished mascot is a rare collectible that captures the elegance and craftsmanship of Lalique's automotive art.

Dimensions: 3.5 inches long x 2.6 inches tall x 2.4 inches deep.
