12L Set of Eight Sew-Through Pearl Shell Dimi Whistle Buttons, 3/8"

Set of eight vintage Mother of Pearl sew-through shell whistle buttons. Really unique, these flat-bottom, dome-shaped buttons have a round, deep, recessed eye with two holes.

Measure approximately 7.3 mm at the widest: rounded up to 12L, 7.6mm, or 3/8". The dome is approximately 5 mm tall.

A whistle button is a type of vintage button with a single hole on top and two or more holes on the back, designed to protect the thread from wear by recessing it inside the button. This construction method hides the thread and has been popular since the 19th century.

A natural material, Mother of Pearl is made from nacre (the inner layer of pearl oyster shells). These buttons are prized for their natural luster.
