These attractive small buttons feature deep, rich cobalt blue faceted glass cabochons that create a sparkling, jewel-like effect with their multi-faceted domed tops set into simple silver-tone metal rims. The glass shows excellent translucency and depth of color, typical of high-quality pressed or molded glass from European makers. The backs reveal a classic shank construction with visible oxidation and patina on the metal, which is consistent with age and authentic vintage wear rather than modern reproduction.

These buttons were likely made in the 1930s, during the Art Deco period when faceted glass buttons in bold colors like cobalt blue were popular for dresses, coats, and accessories. While some similar faceted glass styles date earlier to the late 19th or early 20th century, the specific combination of deep cobalt hue, faceted dome, and silver-tone metal setting (often with subtle serrated or beaded edges) points most strongly to production in the 1920s to 1930s. They could possibly extend slightly later into the early 1940s, but the 1930s is the most probable era based on style and construction.

They were almost certainly made in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), a major center for glass button production during this time, particularly in regions like Jablonec nad Nisou (Gablonz), known for exporting pressed, faceted, and colored glass buttons worldwide.

These buttons are in good vintage condition overall, with some oxidation on the backs, nice sparkle in the faceted glass, and no major chips noted. In the 1930s, such vibrant faceted glass shank buttons were used on women's fashion garments to add elegance and Art Deco flair, particularly on dresses, blouses, and suits, where the sparkle could catch the light beautifully.

Measure approximately 22L, 22 lignes, 13.9 mm, or 9/16", (close to 5/8").
