Step into the glamour of old Hollywood with this extraordinary late 1930s to early 1940s vintage two-piece dress ensemble. Channel the elegance of silver-screen legends like Bacall, Bergman, and Hepburn as you slip into this black pebble crepe masterpiece. It’s your chance to embody the essence of golden-age cinema and showcase a truly rare and collectible piece of fashion history.

The blouse is a work of art, featuring dramatic puff sleeves and a row of covered buttons that fasten down the back. The real star, however, is the stunning bird-of-paradise (or maybe a Peahen?) motif crafted from gelatin sequins and Czech glass beads. The intricate design of this bird perched upon a flowering branch showcases the era's opulence and craftsmanship, adding a layer of sparkle and depth that will catch the eye from every angle.

The fine details extend to the back, where a covered button closure ensures a seamless, tailored fit. The use of gelatin sequins revolutionized fashion in the 1920s. Their enticing shimmer harkens back to an era when the discovery of King Tut’s tomb inspired a sequin craze. These gelatin sequins reflect light in a way that modern acetate sequins simply can't.

The ensemble’s skirt is equally sophisticated, designed with a set-in waistband, a metal Talon zipper on the left side, and two hooks and eyes at the waistband. The dart-fitted waistline and the slit vent at the hem add to the thoughtful design of this timeless piece.

Labeled "A Barbara Ann Fashion, A Wesley Mason Fabric," this ensemble captures the essence of high fashion from the late 1930s to early 1940s. Whether you’re dressing for a special event or curating your collection, this dress offers a chance to wear a piece of history.

Don’t miss your chance to own this rare, collectible two-piece dress that’s as elegant as it is exquisite.

Care and condition: Dry clean only. Glatin sequins are heat-sensitive. These electroplated gelatin sequins shimmer beautifully under ballroom lights but can wither if exposed to heat, water, rain, or steam. Despite their fragility, their depth of color is simply irresistible. After the 1930s, acetate sequins began to replace gelatin, making surviving pieces with genuine gelatin sequins increasingly rare. This piece is in excellent condition with no flaws.
