Late 1800s antique brass Lyre button, whose design originated in the Civil War-era military marching band era.

Measure approximately 25L, 25 lignes, 15.8 mm, or 5/8"

This brass metal shank button is by the Waterbury Button Company (indicated by the "Superior Quality" mark on the back). Both the North and the South used Waterbury buttons on their uniforms. The company has made military and uniform buttons since 1812.
