Step into the solemn beauty of Oriskany Battlefield, where history lingers in the rolling green hills of upstate New York. In the center of this quiet expanse rises a commanding granite obelisk, pale and smooth, reaching skyward like a stone sentinel guarding the memory of a pivotal day. Constructed from stones of the dismantled Erie Canal weigh lock in Utica, the monument honors Brigadier General Nicholas Herkimer and his 800 militiamen who fought in one of the bloodiest battles of the American Revolutionary War on August 6, 1777.

A circle of dark iron fencing surrounds its base, accentuating the sense of reverence and remembrance. Towering trees whisper in the wind to the left, and beyond the monument, the land stretches toward a hazy valley where green meadows blend into the soft blues of the distant horizon. The sky above is a brilliant, endless blue, punctuated by drifting white clouds that lend a quiet majesty to the scene.

This striking postcard was produced by Margo Studio of Rome, New York, capturing both the grandeur and solemnity of this National Historic Landmark with a clarity and depth that preserves the significance of Oriskany for generations to come.

This vintage postcard would look great framed or make a great addition to any collection.
