Set of nine 1930s-50s vintage two-hole sew-through Mother of Pearl shell buttons.

Size: small
Quantity: 9
Measure approximately: 17L, 17 lignes, 10.7 mm, or 7/16" (close to 1/2")
Attachment: two-hole

Material: Trochus shell. Genuine mother-of-pearl (MOP). From the sea snail Trochus Niloticus, a marine top snail from Indo-Pacific waters. Trochus produces a thick, strong, creamy nacre that's used for high-quality carved buttons.

Color: A soft white to opalescent glow, subtle iridescence, and a smooth, slightly shiny nacre appearance. Not dyed, all natural.

Origin: Japan. In 1920s Japan became a major processor, turning Australian/Pacific trochus into finished buttons exported worldwide.

Uses: These buttons are prized for their natural luster and are ideal for doll clothes, heirloom sewing, or craft embellishment. So pretty.
