Measure approximately: Small 20L, 20 lignes, 12.7 mm, or 1/2".
Attachment: Two-hole, with a round eye well that protects thread from wear.
Era: 1930s–1940s. Shell button manufacturing declined sharply after WWII due to cheaper plastics.
Color: creamy off-white color with subtle shimmer and minor natural variations.
Material: Mother-of-pearl (nacre) from freshwater mussel shells (Unionidae family, like those from the Mississippi River basin)
Origin: United States - Muscatine, Iowa (the "Pearl Button Capital of the World").
Uses: Blouses, intimates, lightweight dresses, children's clothing.
