This 1923 postcard offers a breathtaking view of Mount San Antonio, affectionately known as "Old Baldy," one of the highest peaks in the San Gabriel Mountains. At an elevation of over 10,000 feet, this iconic mountain has long been a favorite among hikers, adventurers, and nature lovers. The name "Old Baldy" comes from its distinctive, barren summit, which stands out starkly against the surrounding peaks, making it easily recognizable from miles around. In the early 20th century, this postcard would have served as a reminder of the rugged beauty and natural grandeur of Southern California’s mountainous landscapes, a perfect blend of challenge and awe.
This postcard would look great framed, make a wonderful hostess gift, or make an excellent addition to any collection.
