This offering is for a rare matched set of five late 19th century solid brass ball-type buttons from China's Qing Dynasty, each measuring about 10mm (3/8 inch, 16 lignes) across the dome with a sturdy cast brass loop shank.

The fronts display high-relief hand-carved designs of carp or other fish, a classic auspicious motif representing surplus, fertility, and perseverance.

Crafted in China for attachment to peasant robes, surcoats, silk or cotton robes, mandarin coats, or garments.

Measure approximately 16L, 16 lignes, 10.1 mm, or 3/8".
