1920s vintage sheer, light peach long-leg panty. Double-layer saddle crotch gusset. Highly desirable due to their close-fitting silhouette - ideal for wearing beneath clinging twenties jersey knits, chiffons, bias cut, close-fitting garments. Woven by Munsing Wear from DuPont rayon yarn. The company was started by George D. Munsing in 1886. These bloomers pre-date 1923 when the company went public and changed its name from Munsing Wear to Munsingwear, Inc. At the time it was the largest manufacturer of underwear in the world. Its slogan was "Don't say underwear, say Munsingwear". This piece is a rare, early example of the company's expansion from men's undergarments into women's underwear production.
