An exceptional piece of Argentine mid-century modern jewelry. This heavyweight, sculptural hinged bangle features an ultra-smooth, mirror-polished finish inspired by the architectural geometries of the South American Arte Concreto-Invención (Concretism) movement. It utilizes a precise, concealed tongue-and-groove hinge and box clasp mechanism designed to maintain a clean, flush profile around the wrist.
Era: Post-1959
Size: circumference when fastened 7"
Width 9.5 mm
Metal: Solid .925 Sterling Silver
Weight: 35.9 Grams (1.27 oz)
Closure: Hidden integrated box clasp with tongue-and-groove mechanical hinge
The piece is stamped 925 inside a diamond-shaped (lozenge) frame. This hallmark is an important dating feature that indicates it was made after Argentina's 1959 silver hallmark reform.
It is also stamped STERLING SILVER, MADE IN ARGENTINE, and INDUSTRIA ARGENTINE. The uncommon spelling "Argentine" reflects an older export marking used by some Buenos Aires workshops producing silver for international markets.
Additional hallmarks include the series code V38 and a maker's mark consisting of a capital H enclosed within a crescent-shaped border. These marks help identify the workshop and support the piece's documented origin.
Excellent vintage condition with a tight, secure clasp mechanism. Shows fine surface micro-scratches consistent with age and light wear, but retains a brilliant, high-shine reflective finish.
