1920s Wildwood Golf Course Club House Charles City lowa Vintage Postcard
About This Vintage Postcard
A quiet elegance defines this sprawling, Tudor Revival clubhouse, its stark white walls and dark-shingled roof creating a striking silhouette against the deep green Iowa forest. In this 1920s view, the striped awnings over the wide windows and the long, covered patio speak of lazy summer afternoons and the early days of Charles City’s golfing tradition. The image captures the "nostalgic gem" of the course at its architectural peak, inviting a sense of relaxed, mid-century leisure on the sun-drenched greens of Wildwood.

Additional Information
This "C.T. Photo-Finish" grayscale halftone was produced just two years after the clubhouse was completed in 1927. Beyond its recreational charm, the building holds a unique place in history: during World War II, it served as a dormitory and mess hall for German Prisoners of War stationed in the area. Today, the entire Wildwood Park Historic District, including this clubhouse, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
This vintage postcard would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
