About This Vintage Postcard

This early 20th-century view captures the breathtaking panorama of the Royal Chateau d'Amboise and the stone bridge spanning the Loire River. Perched on a promontory, the chateau was a favorite residence for French kings and served as a major political hub during the Renaissance. The massive Tour des Minimes, the circular tower visible on the left, features a unique internal ramp that allowed horse-drawn carriages to ascend from the riverbank to the castle terraces. This site is also famously the final resting place of Leonardo da Vinci, whose remains lie in the chateau's Saint-Hubert Chapel.
