This vintage postcard shows the interior of the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City. The hall is located at the United Nations Headquarters and serves as the main chamber where all 193 member states meet to discuss and vote on global issues. The room is vast, circular, and designed with a mid-century modern aesthetic.

The floor is arranged with hundreds of long, curved desks set in concentric semi-circles, all facing a central podium. Each desk has teal-blue upholstered chairs. At the far end is a raised, tiered platform with a white lectern. Behind it is a large golden wall, glowing in the light, with the white United Nations emblem centered on it, showing a world map framed by olive branches.

The walls feature large abstract murals by French artist Fernand Léger. One prominent mural on the left includes bold flowing shapes in dark red, white, and black against a dark grey background. Flanking the golden center wall are tall wooden slatted panels that angle inward toward the ceiling, drawing the eye upward and giving a sense of height and focus. The dome above is shallow and dark, with a large central oculus containing recessed lighting that forms a glowing ring high over the chamber.

The overall color palette mixes warm wood tones, bright gold on the focal wall, and the cool teal of the seating. The effect is both formal and artistic, combining the grandeur of international governance with mid-century design elegance.

This would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
