Telemark Lodge, also known as Telemark Resort and Convention Center, was one of Wisconsin’s most famous year-round sports destinations. Designed by architect Herb Fritz, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, the striking lodge opened in 1972 and quickly became a landmark in the region. Its scenic golf course was widely promoted as one of the most beautiful in Northern Wisconsin, drawing visitors who came for both summer recreation and winter sports.

The resort was founded by Tony Wise, who also established the renowned American Birkebeiner, the largest cross-country ski race in North America. For decades, Telemark was a hub of outdoor adventure, hospitality, and Northwoods charm.

After years of financial challenges, the lodge closed permanently in 2013. In 2021, the property was acquired by the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation, and the original lodge building was demolished as part of a redevelopment plan now known as Mount Telemark Village, envisioned as a new center for outdoor recreation.
