1982 Ileana-82 by Kacere
A 1982 vintage gallery card or postcard of John Kacere's oil on canvas painting "Ileana - 82". Photorealism.
John Kacere was an American painter and an early photorealist. Known for his sensual, large-scale depictions of lingerie-clad women’s bottoms, he explained his work as a celebration of the female form. Kaceres's large size of his canvases aligns his work with still life and landscape painting, rather than a nude study. He began painting from photographs in 1963, gradually developing his seamless oil painting technique. Born in 1920 in Walker, IA, he received his BFA and MFA from the University of Iowa. Today, Kacere’s work can be found in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and the Erie Art Museum in Pennsylvania. He died in 1999 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 79.
