1950s. Tailored worsted wool gabardine riding pants in taupe. Modern size equivalent: Medium, 8. Tailor's label 1954. Two side slit pockets. Belt loops. Left side talon metal side zipper fly. Button tab closure at the waistband. Continuous waist with sartorial split waistband. Stirrup buttons on the inside hem. Multiple darns. Beautiful single-needle topstitching. 

Provenance: Custom Tailored Label for JSS Losse, 520 Olive Street, Saint Louis, 11-16-54. The Custom Taylor's Union Label United Garment Workers of America tag located on an inner pocket; has the manufacturer number at the center of the label that was first introduced in the 1930s, but was often used decades later until the tailor's supply ran out. These were custom-made for For Mrs. C. Lamy. Mrs. C. Oscar Lamy was a St. Louis socialite named in the Who's Who Women of Achievement, University's Top 100.
