This vintage postcard offers a glimpse into the Arctic life as portrayed in the life-size diorama at the Arctic Exhibit on Hill Island, Ontario. Two figures dressed in traditional Inuit clothing sit inside a carefully constructed igloo made of snow blocks, their fur-lined parkas and boots reflecting the harsh winter environment of the far north. The interior includes simple items such as bowls and tools, positioned on a raised platform that suggests a living space adapted for survival in extreme conditions.

Part of the International Resort Facilities in the heart of the Thousand Islands, this exhibit aimed to authentically represent Inuit culture and the resourcefulness of Arctic living. The igloo, a dome-shaped shelter traditionally used by Inuit families in Central Arctic regions and Greenland’s Thule area, is shown as both functional and resilient—its snow walls capable of retaining heat against the frigid climate.

Visitors to the Arctic Exhibit could also explore nearby attractions including the Duty-Free Center, Canadian Gift Shop, and on-site restaurant. Open from April through October, the resort was easily accessible via the Thousand Island Bridge and major highways, offering an educational and cultural experience alongside leisure travel.

This postcard would look great framed, make a wonderful hostess gift, or make an excellent addition to any collection.
