This 1947 image was repurposed for this later 1947, post-war WWII issued card.

The elegant Kentucky Hotel in Louisville, a proud landmark built in 1925 at the corner of Fifth and Walnut Streets. It was the last major hotel constructed in downtown Louisville before World War II, and it quickly became a popular destination for travelers and dignitaries passing through the city’s thriving rail and river networks. With its classic architecture and refined interior, the Kentucky Hotel symbolized the sophistication of an era.

Following the stagnation of World War II in 1947, hotel management launched a massive modernization project to compete with newer hotels. They retrofitted the entire building with centralized air conditioning. This was a massive selling point at the time, leading them to aggressively print the phrase "Air conditioned rooms and restaurants" on all of their advertising collateral and postcards, as seen here.
