1940 Washington Monument Milwaukee Wisconsin

Late 1940s vintage linen lithograph print postcard. Richard Henry Park's George Washington, dedicated on November 7, 1885, was the first public monument in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 

"Four blocks of beautiful boulevard along Wisconsin Avenue, adorned by statues and beautifully landscaped gardening, has been dedicated to American war heroes. Many a soulful lad may be found gazing at the Washington Monument located here among the cherished statues of this great American city."
