1910 Florence Italy Cathedral
The Italian Gothic building, the Cathedral of Florence, is dedicated to "Santa Maria del Fiore". The church was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio (c1245-1302) who considerably enlarged the existing religious structure.
Finished around 1367, the Cathedral was completely covered by colored marble. White marble from Carrara: The city of Carrara is located in the north of Tuscany not far from the Mediterranean Sea between Viareggio and La Spezia.
It is the most famous marble in the world. Michelangelo also used Carrara marble for his statues. Green marble from Prato: Prato is a city just a few kilometers from Florence. Red (pink) marble from Siena: Siena is a famous city 100 km south of Florence, also in Tuscany.
