1909. A man rides a donkey loaded up with baskets in front of the Hinged Gate in Antigua, Spain. The Puerta de Bisagra Nueva, also known as the New Bisagra (Hinged) Gate, is one of the most famous city gates in Toledo, Spain. Originally of Moorish origin, the main part of the gate was constructed in 1559 by Alonso de Covarrubias. It features the coat of arms of Emperor Charles V. This gate replaced the older Puerta Bisagra Antigua as the primary entrance to the city. The gate’s design and construction reflect the architectural styles and historical influences of the period. This vintage postcard would look great framed or make an excellent addition to any collection.
