1930s Black Sequined Eveningwear Top Medium

A rare and glamorous black evening blouse from the late 1930s to early 1940s, crafted from richly textured rayon pebble crepe. This piece embodies the elegance and drama of Old Hollywood glamour, with original metal Talon zippers at the back neck and left side, a rounded neckline, and short sleeves. Care and condition: Gelatin sequins are heat sensitive. These electroplated gelatin sequins shimmer beautifully under ballroom lights but can wither if exposed to heat, water, rain, or steam. Despite their fragility, their depth of color is simply irresistible. After the 1930s, acetate sequins began to replace gelatin, making surviving pieces like this one increasingly rare. The front sequins are vibrant and intact. The back sequins were removed due to damage, leaving some light puckering that doesn’t detract from the piece's overall beauty. Both metal zippers function smoothly. Fabric is strong and wearable.
