It bears a green one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp and is addressed to Mrs. Louis E. Stone. A lengthy handwritten message on the front to "My Dear Nellie" offers holiday greetings and mentions wishing to be in "the Carolinas." The address side is a Private Mailing Card authorized by the 1898 Act of Congress, featuring the strict "This side is exclusively for the address" instruction used before 1907.
