This elegant vintage Bohemian art glass vase stands approximately 5.3 inches tall. It features a vibrant, multi-layered spatter décor in fiery orange, white, and amethyst tones, finished with a subtle iridescent sheen. Its refined inverted bell form and downturned lip suggest it could have been designed as a bulb forcing vase. The rich, dark pedestal base provides a striking contrast and added stability. Etched on the underside is “Tienda San Juan,” Spanish for “San Juan Store,” reflecting its original export to the Americas during the golden era of Bohemian glassmaking.

Historical context and expert insights suggest this is Bohemian glass, likely produced by the renowned Czech glassworks Ernst Steinwald & Co. around the 1930s. The piece may have been specially crafted for the Tienda San Juan store, a longstanding retailer established over 80 years ago in Salta, Argentina, possibly as a private label or export item for the Latin American market.

This piece is a striking example of "end-of-day" spatter glass, a style born from creativity and spontaneity. At the close of a day’s production, glassmakers would often use leftover bits of colored glass to craft one-of-a-kind items, pieces not bound by strict patterns but guided by the moment. The result is richly marbled, playfully vibrant glass that embodies the spirit of the workshop, less formal yet more expressive and utterly unique. Each end-of-day piece is a little piece of art history, shaped by whim and chance.

Collectors of Czech glass will appreciate the distinctive style and craftsmanship typical of the pre-World War II Bohemian glass period (1918–1938). This piece is part of a unique heritage, blending European artistry with South American commercial heritage.
