About This Vintage Postcard

This mid-century view features the impressive Ambassador Hotel, once celebrated as one of Atlantic City's finest luxury destinations. The back of the card highlights the hotel's reputation for "good food, unexcelled service and magnificent furnishings." Shown rising above a crowded summer beach filled with colorful umbrellas and ocean bathers, the Ambassador was a hub of activity on the Jersey Shore. Interestingly, its massive steel frame would eventually be repurposed as the structural foundation for the modern Tropicana Resort.
