About This Vintage Postcard

Capture the scenic coastal beauty of Portland with this vibrant linen-era postcard featuring the Eastern Promenade. Designed by the renowned Olmsted Brothers in 1905, this 78-acre park offers panoramic views of Casco Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The image depicts the tree-lined drive with its characteristic American elms, which once framed the promenade before many were lost to Dutch elm disease. This view perfectly preserves the idyllic atmosphere of Maine's "Vacationland" during the mid-century era.
