This is a stunning example of Rosenthal’s "Faun mit Trauben" (Faun with Grapes), designed in 1912 by Ferdinand Liebermann and produced in 1922. It is marked on the base with the green "Rosenthal Kunstabteilung Selb Bavaria" stamp, identifying it as model K298 and dating it to the early post-Art Nouveau period.

This Satyr figurine is hand-painted and finished with a high-gloss glaze. The detailing is exceptional: note the fine facial modeling, expressive features, and the lively blue tones of the grape cluster. The colors are subtle and naturalistic, with smooth transitions between the skin, hair, and fur elements.

Ferdinand Liebermann (1883–1941) was a leading sculptor for Rosenthal’s art division during the early 20th century. His imaginative and expressive porcelain designs often drew from mythology and allegory, blending the elegance of Art Nouveau with the emerging geometry of Art Deco. Liebermann’s works are held in museum collections such as the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney and the Pinakothek in Munich, highlighting his lasting artistic significance. His Rosenthal porcelain pieces, particularly those from the 1920s, are highly sought after by collectors worldwide.

This figurine is a rare and beautifully preserved example of early 20th-century German porcelain art, showcasing Liebermann’s refined sculptural style and Rosenthal’s superb craftsmanship.
