This set of eight matching vintage black glass buttons showcases a classic glossy black finish with a subtle molded scalloped or star-shaped edge, accented by delicate gold gilt or luster outlining the geometric pattern. The gold metallic wash on the raised borders adds a refined shine and elegant contrast, typical of fine period craftsmanship.

Each diminutive button measures approximately 3/8 inch (around 14 lignes, 8.8 mm), making them an ideal small size for blouses, dresses, lingerie, or as decorative accents on Victorian or Edwardian garments.

These are pressed or molded black glass buttons, enhanced with fired-on gold luster for durability and luster. Produced in the renowned Jablonec/Gablonz region of Bohemia (now Czech Republic), a major hub for glass button manufacturing, they date to the late 19th (roughly 1880s to 1900). This era saw black glass buttons rise in popularity, influenced by Victorian fashion trends, with gilt accents providing a touch of sophistication without overwhelming the design.

Within National Button Society standards, these black glass buttons fall under the dedicated DivisionI classification.

The buttons are in excellent vintage condition, with intact glossy surfaces, minimal gilt wear where present, and no significant chips or cracks. The authentic patina enhances their historical charm.

These timeless pieces capture the artistry of Bohemian glassmaking at its best.Β

Measure approximately 14 lignes, 8.8 mm., or 3/8".
