Step back in time with this exquisite vintage linen lithograph postcard featuring the historic Cathedral Church in St. Augustine, Florida. This postcard captures a moment in history with a 1947 Cadillac parked outside the church, adding a touch of classic charm.
The Cathedral Church, commenced in 1793, originally lacked a tower or steeple. After a devastating fire in 1887, the building was largely restored in 1888, with significant additions made. The church steeple houses the oldest bell in the country, inscribed with “St. Joseph Ora Pro Nobis A.D. 1682,” a gift from Mr. J. Y. Wilson, a public-spirited citizen. The Old Moorish facade features four bells, no longer in use, adding to the historical allure of this card's story.
