The card features an undivided back which was the required format in France until late 1903. This narrows the manufacture date to the turn of the century. The 10 centime red Mouchon stamp and the August 1902 postmark from Lourdes provide an exact date of use. The handwritten French message on the front is also dated August 17 1902 and mentions an unforgettable promenade on the eve of a race. This practice of writing on the front was mandatory because the reverse was strictly reserved for the address. The card was mailed to a Monsieur A. Bernadou on Rue de Passy in Paris.
